An internationally recognized cancer researcher, Dr. Greene’s research has had a profound impact on understanding the genesis, treatment and prevention of hormone-dependent breast cancer. He is currently focusing on targeting therapy-resistant ER+ breast cancer, as well as understanding and targeting steroid receptor cross talk in breast cancer progression. An additional interest is understanding and exploiting the role of the tumor microenvironment in tumor genesis, progression and response to therapy.

Dr. Greene earned his B.A. in chemistry from the College of Wooster in 1969 and his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Northwestern University in 1974. He joined the faculty University of Chicago as an assistant professor in 1980 and rose to professor in 1991. Dr. Greene has authored or co-authored more than 185 peer-reviewed publications and has received several prestigious awards for his research and contributions.
